ROBIT TO COOPERATE WITH SKIER HILLA NIEMELÄ

Robit has signed a sponsors and partnership contract with the promising 20-year-old skier Hilla Niemelä.

Born in Lempäälä but currently living and training in Vuokatti, Hilla Niemelä is one of the fastest rising young stars of the Finnish skiing scene. She began her skiing career as part of Lempäälän Kisa, however, she was later picked up by her current team, Ikaalisten Urheilijat. To date, Niemelä has already been a part of the Finnish national team and represented Finland, for example, twice at the U20 World Championship in Lahti and Vuokatti, as well as at U18 European Olympic Festival in Sarajevo.

Robit wants to support not only competitive sports at the highest level, but also sports for children and the youth. The basis of the cooperation between Robit and Niemelä is therefore built on shared values and content that is produced together. In practice, the partnership will include traditional logo visibility as well as significant amounts of social media updates on Niemelä’s training, competitions, development, goals, latest news, and expectations for the future.

NEW DISTRIBUTOR PARTNER REPLACES ROBIT’S OWN SALES COMPANY IN KAZAKHSTAN

Robit Plc has signed a new distributor agreement with Eurasian Machinery LLP, which will continue serving Robit’s customers in Kazakhstan.

Robit Plc and Eurasian Machinery LLP have recently established a strong cooperation to serve the drilling industry in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In connection to this new co-operation, Robit Plc has decided to discontinue its sales company’s operations (TOO Robit Kazakhstan) in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan.

Eurasian Machinery LLP is the largest company supplying specialized machinery and equipment for mining, construction, and oil and gas enterprises in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Eurasian Machinery LLP is the official distributor of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The company is also a distributor for many other reputable brands like Furukawa, SWEDFAN, BELL and Powerscreen.

Robit ProTALK – Pavel Timofeev, VP CIS & East Europe

POSITION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AT ROBIT

I hold two positions in the Vostok region, working as the General Director of the Russian representative office of Robit and as the Vice President of the Region. I was entrusted with developing a sales strategy for all Robit products in the Eastern region, which encompasses 25 countries. We have a strong team of five salespersons and two logisticians.

I have the main responsibility for our sales and marketing in the East, ensuring that the operations keep running, by searching for new customers and distributors in the region as well as by attracting new resources for sales and testing. Managing the budgeting and forecasting (S & OP), making sure that the sales team follows all guidelines from the headquarters (for example NetSuite CRM) and that all safety instructions are followed are also part of my job description. I also provide the staff with continuous communication channels as well as ongoing technical and commercial training, all the while keeping them motivated to achieve high performance.

EXPERIENCE ON THE FIELD

I have been in the mining business for 12 years and in sales for over 18 years. By my education I am a mining engineer, so I am truly familiar with the field.

KEY MARKET TRENDS ON THE FIELD FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS

The mining industry in the Vostok region is traditionally well developed and the trend continues. The main countries showing growth in sales for Robit are Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, but we also have a great desire to develop our presence in Ukraine. Robit’s key advantage is in quality and we continue to show to customers the benefits of choosing Robit products.

HOW DO ROBIT’S ONGOING ACTIONS SUPPORT THE CUSTOMERS AND THEIR CURRENT CHALLENGES?

Robit ProTALK – Seung Kuy Back, Regional Sales Director – Asia

POSITION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AT ROBIT

My position is that of the Regional Sales Director Asia. As the name suggests, I lead the sales in the Asian region, and am therefore responsible for the Robit Asia Sales resources and sales & expense budgets. My tasks range from developing, directing, participating in, and coordinating sales and marketing functions to supervising the development ramp-up of distributors, as well as coaching, training, managing, and directing Robit Asia personnel. I also develop, direct, supervise, and coordinate short- and long-range business plans and directly manage major and critical client accounts and markets. Furthermore, developing and managing sales and marketing budgets, cash flows, and inventory control are a part of my portfolio, along with arranging and participating in territorial budget meetings with distributors.

EXPERIENCE ON THE FIELD

I have been working for Robit for about 10 years, both in the Korean domestic market, as well as in the international markets. My specialization is in the forepoling market, but I also work with end users in the tunneling business.

KEY MARKET TRENDS ON THE FIELD FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS

The Mining and Quarry businesses can be expected to grow steadily, due to the limited nature of mineral resources and the constantly increasing efficiency of cutting-edge production, which results in the increased consumption of said resources. In addition to that, the tunneling business in developing regions is expected to grow rapidly, especially in Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam and Malaysia, thanks to increased infrastructure.

HOW DO ROBIT’S ONGOING ACTIONS SUPPORT THE CUSTOMERS AND THEIR CURRENT CHALLENGES?

We offer the widest range of top-quality products at competitive prices. This gives us an edge in a market where many customers are fighting to survive and need cost-saving measures; our products benefit those customers by allowing them to cut costs without sacrificing quality.

HOW DO YOU SEE ROBIT IN 2021 – WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN EXPECTATIONS ON YOUR FIELD?

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is still tough to boost our sales in parts of the market as the construction operations have not yet returned to their pre-pandemic levels. Thankfully, we have managed to maintain a friendly online relationship with our distributors, however, we remain to be unable to make site visits and build rapport in person.

Despite the difficulties, I see 2021 as a useful period for seeding the market for the future, with the seeds bearing fruit within the next couple of years.

POSITION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AT ROBIT

As Vice President Australasia, I see it as my duty to ensure that the Perth Canning Vale & Kalgoorlie Teams work in a safe and healthy environment and return home each day healthy and well. I am responsible for Key Account Management and for leading the team in meeting sales targets, while assuming accountability for Canning Vale manufacturing and for the region’s Profit & Loss statement. Further responsibilities include forecasting and inventory management, following the financial health of the business through monitoring accounts receivables, and, last but not least, vendor management.

EXPERIENCE ON THE FIELD

I have been involved in the drilling and blasting segment of the mining industry for 26 years, of which 15 years have been dedicated to drilling consumables. Furthermore, I have acquired plenty of country management experience in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.

KEY MARKET TRENDS ON THE FIELD FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS

With the expectation that prices of commodities such as iron ore, gold, nickel, and copper will remain at high levels for the next 3-5 years, focus will certainly be on the mining industry. Exploration levels will also remain high, providing good opportunities in Reverse Circulation drilling consumables. Additionally, there are growing opportunities in the Geotechnical field, mainly due to stimulus packages released thanks to Covid-19 recovery plans.

HOW DO ROBIT’S ONGOING ACTIONS SUPPORT THE CUSTOMERS AND THEIR CURRENT CHALLENGES?

Through accurate forecasting, Robit needs to ensure that the required inventory levels can be guaranteed for fast-moving products. The market is constantly moving at a rapid pace, and Robit needs to keep up with the new product innovation, based on the customer needs.

HOW DO YOU SEE ROBIT IN 2021 – WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN EXPECTATIONS ON YOUR FIELD?

We need to be smart in how we play our strengths, targeted use of limited resources is essential.

POSITION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AT ROBIT

I work as the Managing Director of Robit S.A.C., which is Robit’s South American direct sales company based in Peru. I have the main responsibility for sales and sales development in an agreed part of Central and South America, particularly in Peru, which is one of our target markets. I develop the company’s competitiveness, our local markets, the market position, and market share in the designated sales area, while further developing and managing the dealer network in the area. Additionally, I have the responsibility for the customers, customer service, and customer care in the entire region. Finally, to top it off, I also act as the General Manager for our Lima office in Peru.

EXPERIENCE ON THE FIELD

I have nearly 25 years of experience from the sales of industrial products, of which 16 years have been related to mining supplies. I worked as Sales Manager for OTR tyres, drill rigs, and other products relevant for mining for 1,5 years at Sandvik. Before Robit, my latest experience was one year spent as Marketing Service Manager at Epiroc.

KEY MARKET TRENDS ON THE FIELD FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS

Mining will continue to be the most attractive segment to participate in in the region, particularly in Peru and Chile, both of which are countries with important copper mines. This is significant, as copper should only increase in demand in the world, due to the recent developments in the markets. On the other hand, construction industry will depend on the political stability of the countries, which is very uncertain at this moment.

HOW DO ROBIT’S ONGOING ACTIONS SUPPORT THE CUSTOMERS AND THEIR CURRENT CHALLENGES?

The expansion of the capacity at our factories, as well as the continuous development of new products, are actions that are vital in achieving first-in-class availability and creating products that make it possible for our customers to reduce drilling costs. Furthermore, the constant training gives our sales and field support teams the knowledge necessary to gain the trust of our customers in both our products and our people, or in general terms, in our organization.

HOW DO YOU SEE ROBIT IN 2021 – WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN EXPECTATIONS ON YOUR FIELD?

We will continue to grow in the mining sector, thanks to our improved brand recognition. We will focus on improving local availability and ensure improved service levels. We continue to show the value of our offering to customers with product trials and field support. Our aim is to always be the supplier with the lowest sustainable cost per meter.

POSITION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AT ROBIT

My position at Robit is as the Managing Director of the Southern African region, where I am responsible for leading the sales team and meeting the sales targets to reach our growth goals. This means that I make sure that Robit’s global processes are followed in the region and the regional pricing is based on the global guidelines. EXPERIENCE ON THE FIELD

To this day, I have spent 26 years in the hard rock drilling industry, with extensive focus on cost-per-meter contracts. The past 7 years I have been with Robit sales and marketing.

KEY MARKET TRENDS ON THE FIELD FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS

Mining is and will remain the main focus for Robit SA. As we are selling mainly to the direct market, we need to maintain a high quality and acceptable lead times. As mentioned previously, the demand for cost-per-ton and cost-per-meter contracts remains high on our customers’ agenda, with the reasoning being that this ensures a high level of involvement on the supplier’s side.

HOW DO ROBIT’S ONGOING ACTIONS SUPPORT THE CUSTOMERS AND THEIR CURRENT CHALLENGES?

Years and years of selling face-to-face with a firm product knowledge, not letting our customers down, and never overcommitting availabilities (after all, nothing sells like stock!) have helped us build close and strong relationships. Mining is all about cost effectiveness and, therefore, Robit Rocktools will always be a part of a measured commodity in both efficiency factors of provided products, cost per ton and cost per meter. The implementation of new, game changing products is essential as it will set us apart from our competition.

HOW DO YOU SEE ROBIT IN 2021 – WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN EXPECTATIONS ON YOUR FIELD?

There have been big improvements over the past few years. That being said, we continue to focus on improving our on-shelf availability levels and product performance.

Robit ProTALK – Mikko Vuojolainen, VP North America

POSITION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AT ROBIT

I am heading Robit’s North American sales division as Vice President, North America. In my position, I am responsible for ensuring that we meet our sales targets in the region. I am also responsible for the company’s net working capital (NWC) in the region, managing the region’s inventories, receivables, and forecast accuracy. It is my task to ensure that Robit’s global processes are followed in the region, for example distribution management process including distribution development road maps. Furthermore, I manage the company’s regional pricing based on the global guidelines and am responsible for the region’s cost effectiveness.

EXPERIENCE ON THE FIELD

While my experience in this particular industry is just under 4 years, all of it at Robit, I have managed to accumulate nearly 30 years’ worth of experience in international sales and distribution management.

KEY MARKET TRENDS ON THE FIELD FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS

Mining is expected to continue at a high level; not only staying the same, but actually increasing slightly from year to year. This should help us gain a steadier income from the market and potentially even increase our foothold. 

Construction business, on the other hand, will be more cyclical, responding heavily to the political situations and investing cycles, thus being a little more difficult to predict.

HOW DO ROBIT’S ONGOING ACTIONS SUPPORT THE CUSTOMERS AND THEIR CURRENT CHALLENGES?

New and existing products often offer a possibility to improve operational drilling efficiency; in this regard, Robit is in a very good position. Since mining companies currently face tremendous pressure for cutting operating costs, we should be able to benefit from this with our offering. Product availability is critical for companies like Robit, which have their factories far away from local customers. Our current efforts to boost the availability will hopefully allow us to gain an edge in this regard.

HOW DO YOU SEE ROBIT IN 2021 – WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN EXPECTATIONS ON YOUR FIELD?

Overall Robit continues improving the performance. Top Hammer sales have developed well and Robit is investing into increased production capacity. Robit globally, and we in North America, see year 2021 positively.

Welcome to visit us at Robit’s valued distributor, DPMF’s stand H7 in SOLSCOPE – INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION FOR THE GEOTECHNICAL, DRILLING AND FOUNDATIONS SECTORS between 23-24 June 2021 in Lyon, France.

Solscope is an international exhibition for the geotechnical, drilling and special foundations sectors. Created in 1992, it takes place every 2 years, in odd-numbered years, in a different city. Solscope is organized around conferences, workshops, indoor and outdoor exhibition of machines. Every 2 years, it brings together around 2000 visitors, 150 exhibiting companies and 200 delegates. The last edition was held in Marseille in June 2019.

ROBIT HAS PURCHASED A PATENTED PRODUCT INVENTION

Robit has in the recent years strengthened and grown its position in the construction industry and particularly in piling and supporting business. As a part of this development Robit has purchased a product invention and related patents from Tri-Mach Oy, a Finnish company manufacturing piling products.

This novelty applies particularly in drilling and installing large piles. As the current trend indicates, the diameter of piles is increasing up to two meters. Robit believes that this novelty suits well in the current market development and provides significant benefits to the customers compared to their existing solutions.

Robit has started a pilot project to launch the product in the market as well as will initiate product tests in co-operation with its key customers.

Robit has globally a strong market position as well as wide knowledge in the construction industry and particularly in customer solutions of piling and supporting business. This sector comprises a considerable part of Robit’s DTH business area and its growth strategy.

The value of the purchase is not significant and thus, is not disclosed by the parties.

Short Overview

The new tubeless range of high-performance Down-the Hole hammers, designed to tackle applications where footvalve breakage can be a cause of downtime.  Particularly recommended in ground conditions with high volumes of water or in soft unconsolidated ground where typical footvalve failures occur. Preferred by drillers in both blast hole and well drilling applications.

ROBIT EXPANDS ITS TOP HAMMER AND DOWN THE HOLE PRODUCTION AREA IN FINLAND

Due to rapid growth Robit has decided to expand the production of Top Hammer and Down the Hole consumables in its factory located in Lempäälä, Tampere region, Finland.

Working to continue offering the best solutions adapted to the continuous growth and needs of customers, the expansion will add approx. 750 square meters of floor space for even more efficient production.

As a result, Top Hammer and Down the Hole production will be divided into separate production lines. The expansion includes also further investments in equipment and automatization.

This expansion will allow Robit to improve its production capacities and efficiency. The new production area reaches its full capacity during the upcoming autumn 2021.
